Mid face lift is a surgical procedure where general anaesthesia is required. It can be done to the mid section of the face and it can focus on some areas of the face more than others.

A mid face lift typically involves raising, tightening, and lifting the underlying structures of the face to a more youthful position. A mid-face lift typically does not involve surgery to any other part of the patient’s body.

Who Is A Candidate For Mid Face Lift?

The triangular anatomical area roughly between the nasolabial fold, the cheekbone and the lower eyelid is called the mid-face area. With the sagging and receding subcutaneous fat pads in this area, nasolabial fold and the tear through under the lower eyelid become evident. Mid-face, which is normally round and full, becomes angular and flat and causes a tired and old look. The surgery encompasses procedures targeted at these problems.

How Is The Procedure Performed?

Usually, general anaesthesia is preferred. If the lower eyelids are also going to be treated, soft tissues that shifted downwards on the bone are loosened and lifted through an incision on the lower eyelid. Endoscopic method can be used if the lower eyelid is not being treated. In this case, an endoscope is inserted through the scalp on the temple, and if necessary, also through the inside of the mouth, between the gum and upper lip, to reach the mid-face area. Tissues are then loosened and lifted to adhere to the firm tissues on the temple area. Operation ends with the face covered in bandage.
