Who is a candidate for chin reshaping?
Chin reshaping is basically performed on two types of patients. Those with long or short chins. This surgery can be carried out alone or combined with rhinoplasty and fat injection to the forehead.
How is the procedure performed?
Depending on the characteristics of the patient, the incision is made inside the mouth or on the crease under the chin. In patients with long chin, some of the chin bone is removed and/or moved backwards. In patients with short chins, silicone or porous polyethylene implants might be used or the chin might be pushed forward with plaque and screw. Apart from these, without making an incision, it is possible to extend the chin with fat injection. The most suitable method is selected in consultation with the patient.
Patients are often discharged on the same day or the following day. They can take a shower the following day and return to their daily lives within a few days.
